What is it?
A daily dietary supplement from Doctor B. Each clear vegetable capsule holds 12 mg of methylene blue, 35 mg of vitamin C (39% DV) and 235 mg of cacao powder. The blue you see through the capsule is the methylene blue.
How do I take it?
Adults take 1 capsule once daily with a glass of water, at about the same time each day. Many people take it with breakfast.
Why is my urine blue or green?
That's the methylene blue. Part of it leaves the body in urine, which can turn blue or blue-green for a while. It's normal and temporary.
Can I take it with medication?
Not with SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs or other serotonergic medicines unless your doctor approves. That includes other medicines that raise serotonin, such as some pain, migraine and cough medicines, and St. John's wort. Methylene blue taken with them can cause serotonin syndrome, a serious reaction. If you take any prescription medicine, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before you start.
Who should not use it?
It's not for people with G6PD deficiency, an inherited enzyme condition in which methylene blue can damage red blood cells; if you're not sure, your doctor can check with a blood test. It's also not for pregnant or nursing women, for anyone under 18, or for anyone who has reacted to methylene blue before. If you take a prescription medicine or have a medical condition, ask your physician before you start. Don't use it if the safety seal is broken or missing.
How long does a bottle last?
60 capsules at one a day is a 60-day supply. Two bottles last about four months, three about six.
